Favourite Trans-Seasonal Colours To Wear

It’s finally beginning to cool down here on the sunny and humid Gold Coast – which means less summer brights and more flashes of  a neutral fall/autumn. Today I wanted to share with you two of my favourite transitional season colours to wear at this time of year (as well as between winter and spring.)

OLIVE

Olive/Khaki is one of my favourite colours to wear – period. In all honesty I do feel that it’s a colour better suited in the cooler months and really warms you up. I’m not a big fan of wearing brights – I prefer dark edgy colours that make my fair skin pop and Olive definitely fits the bill. When wearing Olive – pair your accessories accordingly and don’t overdo this already bold-like colour.

Olive is such a gorgeous neutral that can be worn in both Spring and Fall/Autumn. It’s calming yet dark. Soft yet edgy and full of life. I love this colour and how soothing it looks on. Olive is also such a great colour to accessorize and style with as well. I have gone a little mad of wearing sneakers with dresses and this number was perfect to style with.

Another awesome variant of this colour here which is more bold and darker than the previous dress. This dress is one of those dresses that looks good when you are moving. It’s gorgeous and has cut-outs in all the right places. Pair this with some strappy black heels like I have here (I thrifted those for $8!) and you’re good to go!

 BLUSH

Blush has become a very on-trend colour which is perfect for trans-seasonal weather. It’s light, calming and great against any skin tone. I really enjoy wearing any shade of blush as it feels as though I am giving my fair skin a warmer tone against the blushed tones.

Blush is such a great colour to work with and you can wear it with most colours. I recommend keeping this colour simple and not clashing it with too many colours at once. I love the idea of nude and pink together and felt the chunky heel (Thrifted for $6!)  gave it a big lift to a simple, light and thin (in material) dress.

Well I just wear way too much black, but olive and blush both look so good on you. I think I need to step outside my comfort zone!

  • I love both! That first olive dress is gorgeous with the silver through it 🙂 .

  • You & I are opposites methinks – whilst I’m fair like yourself (albeit on the cooler side of fair), I LOVE wearing bright colours! They make me feel alive. I unfortunately can’t do olive, I don’t think it suits me + it’s a colour I’ve never liked anyway. It looks better on other people though, just not me. I prefer jewel-coloured greens like emerald or even a forest green. Blush is another colour I’m unsure about – a small part of me would like to get into it, but for some reason I can’t. Again, I think it has to do with preference for brighter pinks & being unsure of whether it’d suit my skin tone. I tend to wear a lot of blue hues all year round + I’m excited that red’s back in for autumn/winter as I love a good true red….and I get the chance to bust out my red coat & have it be “in” for once! (Not that I really care about all that jazz!)

    Shell // The Novice Life

    • Hey Shell – I always say wear what you feel comfortable and thrive off of. I don’t wear as many brights as I once used to. I seem to feel more comfortable in subtle tones and blues as well. I do love emerald/forest green as well.

Cannot wait to see this red coat of yours! – Sammy XX

  • Blush and olive look great together too! 🙂 I tend to wear most colours year round, but have a couple of blush pink jackets I will be wearing a lot more when the autumn weather arrives. While it’s cooler at night it’s still pretty humid here in Brisbane!

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend!
